Hi:), thank you that really nice. How is possible to have a big slide glissato up and down if there is a huge interval between one note the other?? This is common for fretless instruments in some style of playing, im not talking about pitch banding, im talking about full slide transaction between notes. How to make that with midi, especially violin? 🙏 Комментарий от : @sunfran_shamanmusic |
Merci ! I would like to know how to write good portamento (sliding notes) in the Studio Strings in Logic Pro X. I've search everywhere on YouTube for weeks, and haven't found no video with explanation for that important articulation. Can you please tell me how to do it. Thank you ! New Logic X looks shit. The old Logic X looked much more charming. Комментарий от : @Fnelrbnef |
I was struggling to understand how Logic's articulation sets work and this totally cleared it up for me. Thanks for sharing! Комментарий от : @chrishartzogmusic |
Bro!!! This tutorial saved me money from buying another strings vst! Ima work with what I got Комментарий от : @prodbysuaz |
To make sustained notes more realistic, be sure to use the mod wheel to add vibrato. Also adjust the attack and release of those notes to create a smoother transition between notes. Комментарий от : @jamesbastani4295 |
Is there a way to have the velocity contextually interpret the articulation with Logic stock sounds? Similar to what you can do with SWAM? Комментарий от : @dafingaz |
So clear and helpful - thank you!!! Комментарий от : @jonmadof |
I bought Eastwest Opus and I eliminated this problem 😂 Комментарий от : @frattuncbas |
You should bounce the Midi tracks so we can see the melodies more in depth Love the video tho Комментарий от : @LIGHTLYSALTDBEATS-qr4xt |
Thank you for all videos..i just started using logic last week and your channel really help a lot. Is like heaven for Logic Комментарий от : @IriantiErningpraja |
life-changing Комментарий от : @Monoq_band |
Brah. You've earned my sub! Комментарий от : @AAABeatbox |
Excellent tutorial. You’ve brought out so much more life and resonance from the strings. Many thanks Комментарий от : @PoetryFilms |
This is a great video I've just subscribed and the rest of your videos looks equally exciting, so keep it up man Комментарий от : @samuelsdgonspotify |
thanks so much for ur video, may i ask, if i can do this on the fly while playing? Комментарий от : @ramymoustafaproductions |
i dont know why but my dont have articulation option Комментарий от : @pedrohenriquecatenaccipere1344 |
This beat sounds awesome but the end sounds ugly. Maybe you changed it yet. Комментарий от : @Palaber |
When I drop down my articulation, I don't get as many options as you do. Any idea's why that might be? I get legato, staccato, pizzicato, tremolo, trills:halftone and tills:whole tone. I don't see any crescendo's, etc. Комментарий от : @KrisWenzel82 |
Such a pity that Logic strings are so shit - I heard an a example of the new Ableton strings, so rich and powerful, whereas logic ones sound thin and nasty Комментарий от : @myriaddsystems |
how do you get them to sound symphonic so you dont have to waste 300$ on a louzy plugin????????? Комментарий от : @quintonhughnin2827 |
ça déchire ! Комментарий от : @QuiEstJohnGalt |
Dude. Every time. Your tutorials are the ones I keep coming back to. Here's why: No bumper at the beginning. They are competent. The content/minute is great. AND - You show all the screen real estate with voiceover instead of picture in picture. AND AND - they keep getting better over the years. Комментарий от : @ronallen2458 |
That's crazy I have logic pro X but can't find studio strings plugin I just have the regular strings that come with the program and something called the legacy pack which offer a whole other set with staccato, pizz etc Комментарий от : @FeoniXash |
Bro i had no idea i could do this 🙏🏾💯 i thought i had to load new tracks to articulate 🙌🏾 Комментарий от : @beatsbymod120 |
Hey there! So, I had strings playing fine, using the articulation, but now I have notes sustaining randomly … any thoughts why? Комментарий от : @mikeward6865 |
you are one of a kind, because what you said suddenly clicked with what I had learnt so far, and everything just in synched together!! super thanks indeed!! i've subscribed for more understanding!! Комментарий от : @123erccauw |
Thank you for actually explaining things clearly and not just expecting your viewers to know everything, unlike so many other Youtubers who are making tutorials on Logic. I feel like I can actually follow along with your videos and understand what your doing because of how you explain things in detail without throwing out a bunch of pretentious lingo that I know nothing about. lol. You've earned a sub, for sure. Комментарий от : @captainwrecksss7005 |
I don't have a Spiccato articulation available (10:08). Is this something related to the overall setup of Logic Pro X that I am missing? Комментарий от : @psbsynthmusic |
Awesome tutorial ! Got a problem. Every time a part (violins, cello, etc.) plays a legato note, it sounds like the dynamic of that note "swells up" from the initial attack to the sustain portion of that note. Can we have the same dynamic of a note being played from the beginning of it to the end? Any suggestions? Комментарий от : @psbsynthmusic |
Thank you for a very helpful tutorial !!!!! Комментарий от : @ramameir |
This articulation feature is great. No need to make seperate tracks for different articulations. Thanks Комментарий от : @TheMusicalYoutube |
Does anyone else have the same problem where it takes 10 seconds or so to load up the sounds and when you hit the keys they don't trigger the sounds properly and are just staccato notes. Is this normal? Комментарий от : @isaacholmesguitar |
Such an amazing lesson. This definitely gives more movement to the Strings and make them sound less produced and more played. Thanks buddy Комментарий от : @rishabhbose29 |
this is fab man Комментарий от : @NikosKatsikanis |
thank you! Комментарий от : @papamashas |
Thanks!!!Very helpful!!!! Комментарий от : @lavinchi6709 |
This is great! Thank you! Being an actual string player (but not a very good one) i've always strived to make samples sound more real. I understand articulations and I use (poly)aftertouch to add informed authenticity to my sound. I add midi to my acoustic performance to mixed results. I'd love for you to make (and sorry if you already have) some ideas about how to use aftertouch. Комментарий от : @GregFieler |
Amazing! Комментарий от : @gEnSmusicProductions |
Awesome! Комментарий от : @dafingaz |
Would you compare the orchestral sounds in Logic to Albion One or Hans Zimmer strings? Комментарий от : @arthurllongjr382 |
Thank you so much for sharing.. every aspect of Logic Pro... I will make the one.. based on today learning.. Комментарий от : @KaruveliRaSaMahendran |
Logic Pro gang , stock plugins with fire sound inside 🔥🔥🔥 Комментарий от : @ayopan4652 |
Great stuff ! You should be able to edit any midi instrument in this way, yes ? Комментарий от : @jamescalka1280 |
Great, for me who's new to Logic. Комментарий от : @proteus1 |
As long as I've been using Logic Pro, I've never realized I could do this with strings! Комментарий от : @DuhAverageJoe |
Hey man! I just found your channel! Can’t believe YouTube didn’t recommend this earlier nor did it show up in my searches up until now. Best channel on mixing on YouTube. Great work! Congratulations and thank you for the great and well explained content! Learned so much in the last two days. Комментарий от : @DanielPestanaTranslations |
this articulation is also interesting in a controller midi with aftertouch Комментарий от : @DomiDooman |
Great vid as always Josh, thank you. Beat sounds fat with them strings!! Комментарий от : @streetmansam5073 |
Very informative and (dare I say) helpful. Thanks. Комментарий от : @francissreckofabian01 |
Great job as always. Alpine makes a nice free orchestral set (runs in kontakt) which blends nice w Logic strings! Комментарий от : @Lfunk1983 |
Wow, can't wait to try this out, thank you so much Комментарий от : @bassManDavis1953 |
Always helpful. Making me a better producer. Комментарий от : @iansebastian211 |

Amazing Комментарий от : @fernandotoshio7542 |
Is this studio strings plug-in an update or do you have to buy it separately or does it come with some newest Logic version that I'm not aware of...?? Mine is 10.3.1 Комментарий от : @justsupersteve |
This was Great! Keep them coming. Комментарий от : @justincowles |
You are simply amazing, your wealth of musical knowledge times Logic is a gold mine! Комментарий от : @m.a.stough4994 |
I never knew articulation sets existed, and they make the strings sound so much better. Thanks A LOT! Комментарий от : @djn48 |
LOVE these videos of yours Josh. Keep 'em coming! Thank you. Cheers from Italy. Комментарий от : @GiacomoArdesi |
After messing about with different articulations I bounce my string in place...I keep the original midi strings and apply the midi effect (randomiser) and also use different quantise parameters on that ...then blend both the audio tracks and the midi tracks together... Комментарий от : @FredGuits |
violin has a really nice sound and gives a track a dope as sound Комментарий от : @slarssonmusic7789 |
I remember your old video on this but this is a great follow-up brother! 🔥 Комментарий от : @prod.spacecadet7441 |
One of the best and helpful YouTube Channel. Thanks Josh ! Stay safe during those strange days. Cheers from France. Комментарий от : @listenhere9954 |
A great video on string techniques for people who don't have a college degree in music or have never studied orchestration; but in the end, there's not much that can be done about the poor-to-despicable quality of Logic's built-in string sounds: paper-y and/or cardboard-y, thin and not believable. Using EQ to pull down a wide band around 1 kHz helps, but it ain't never gonna sound as good as e.g. Logic's saxophone and trumpet libraries. Even compared to Alpine Project's free string libraries, Logic pales in terms of general sound quality (but has more articulation options that are easier to get to). Too bad, but getting really great pro-sounding string sample libraries with all the usual articulation options (skipping the Bartok "snap" pizzacto, col legno battuto, and any or all of Crumb's or Lachenmann's oddball experiments) would be vastly too expensive to free-bundle into a digital production suite. Actually, the col legno's might be fun ... Комментарий от : @steveditore3165 |
This is excellent. Thank you. Комментарий от : @Larry_Druhall |
Pretty awesome trick! Thanks Комментарий от : @vincent_vidal |
Your depth of knowledge is amazing....BUT, more importantly, your ability to "get the point across" is even MORE amazing!! Thank you so much! Комментарий от : @OldGretscher |
There is a guy on YouTube, whose name I've forgotten, his strings sound realistic af, and what he does is he dubs the logic ones with the Sonatina sfz free sample pack, then he has staccato strings dubbing all the legato strings for realistic attack, then comes your usual compression/EQ, it is not ideal, but it almost sounds like an orchestra, I mean for its price it's the best thing Комментарий от : @fedorvoronovcomposer |
Amazing Комментарий от : @ELMASQUELAMONTA |
Great video thx! I noticed you clicked 5 times to automate one small string section. Try the marquee select then click and drag. Just 2 clicks and works perfectly every time without accidental node clicks. 👍 Комментарий от : @jeffhirata |
This is very helpful for orchestral music and scoring as well!!! I've seriously been considering buying a more expensive suite of orchestral instruments. I believe you just walked me back off of that ledge! Thanks! Комментарий от : @crazyb3fan |
This has come at the right time for me, I'm in the process of writing a song with piano & strings both are new for me for writing songs as I am a basic Guitar, bass and drums home recorder. I have viewed others like this, the more the better. Thank you. No doubt you could show us how you would go about it. Комментарий от : @joewilliams5396 |
In your pizzicato example, I’d make the third from last note pizz. too, then the last two sustained, otherwise you’re asking your string players to make an awkwardly quick transition. Комментарий от : @PANTECHNICONRecordings |
You are a damn Jedi. Комментарий от : @absinha6209 |
Hi Josh, why don't you use this beautiful loop to create a track? Maybe 4-5 video lessons would be enough for a mini tutorial to jump quickly in the Logic world. Btw, thanks for another great video and the amazing material of your channel. Комментарий от : @leffeitaly |
It was very awesome bro.... I liked it so much... Keep doing like this...thank you..love from India Комментарий от : @ronnieallen765 |
Really clear, helpful video, as always, thanks. Комментарий от : @emmavj6120 |

So informative and to the point ! Just also wondering about the expression, as that could enhance the emotion ?! Is that too hard to automate? Thanks again for your effort. Комментарий от : @moksh8 |
Pizzicato is basically plucking your strings like a guitar Комментарий от : @oneniggo |
Nice one! Комментарий от : @marcolyott |
Are these all stock sounds if so this great Комментарий от : @malikdann6989 |
