@DeFrisselle
My Aruba 10 was a great kayak Used it extensively paddling around Northern NYS for 6 years Now i have a Pelican If you kayak, you have to learn how to properly paddle That involves using your whole body Hips are very important Also get a good paddle not those cheap standard shovels that come with many cheap kayaks

@ryanreed5738
There's nothing wrong with the field stream kayak it's a youth kayak that's why you can't fit in it and your nees hit against the top of it

What do you mean by on the first kayak u wouldn’t take it on a big lake? I currently have a intex inflatable kayak and I love it but hate setting it up so I want to get a solid kayak because I want to do something a lil more exciting than a calm river or a local lake in Texas

Thank you for sharing your expertise. I’m a filmmaker trying to get more shots. I just got a kayak to stick in the water and look forward to picking your brain after my first dip in the water. I’m dropping in to water from 30° air temperature. This will be my first turn in the lake. I have a feeling, I’ll likely be addicted and looking for help in the near future. ~Sheeara, Alaska

As someone who has wanted a kayak for a long time, the steep prices in kayak shops is and has been an absolute obstacle to getting one.

@Wanjiku82
My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. www.youtube.com/post/Ugkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

@Youraveragegerman30
Yesterday my kayak sank literally I was in the middle of the lake but luckily I had my life jacket on. I don’t have a professional kayak. It doesn’t have an area to put your feet. You just put your leg on top and just go ride the kayak but I forgot to dump the water and sank by the way if you want to go to the lake it’s Pipe Lake Wisconsin

@Sssssssslf
Hi there I'm wondering if you can help me, i have a few questions about your PFD, ive been having the hardest time ever trying to find a PFD in the style and shape i want, the one you're wearing here is similar to what ive been looking for, low profile and slim so you have ease of movement whilst paddling. Do you know if the shape and style of vest youre wearing here has a particular name? I dont know what to search or ask for to be able to find it!
Palm do a couple in the style and shape im after, the 'palm FX AQUA' and palm peyto' but they're more than what i wanted to spend. The palm FX aqua is exactly what ive been looking for but it doesn't have a crotch/leg strap, and that brings me to my next question...
do you wear a crotch or leg strap on your PFD and if not why not?
I hate it when PFD's come up around your head when you're in the water and so for that reason im looking for one that has a strap or that a strap can be added to. Also for safety, reasons. to tell you the truth im surprised that straps aren't a necessary safety feature on all buoyancy aids

@angvasq
Just bought 2 of the Mustangs at Dicks and they were $299 each. I’ve taken to a small, calm lake and just today to the river, a little windy but stayed close to shore. The dry bag was great to hold water and sunscreen, even a beach towel. I tossed a pocket knife and cord in the front holder, a small lunch bag into the hull at my feet and headed out for two hours. I will say my rear and back were a little sore but I imagine that will be the case until I am ready for an upgrade. My partner is 6’ and 220 and he likes his. My son used it today at 6’5 and he had just enough leg room and was good. Very happy with purchase.

@k.l.6780
As someone who doesn't have water that is class 2+ anywhere even remotely close it's more practical to own a cheap boat. The creeks need a lot of munervalablity and strong plastic. I wish you would have added gear, cooler, mentioned cup holders and storage on the reviews. I have several brands from $200 to $1200+ and the more expensive one is garbage for storage, no cup holder, and feels quite tippy. Some cup holders on cheap models will throw your drink if you bump or turn at all. And putting a dry bag between your legs is annoying.

Thanks for the review Canada here 2023, bad knees and past the time of sea kayaks and whitewater (unless we go rafting as a group). So these kayaks are $400 to $799 now. Once I get going and see if it's for me and I do it regularly then I'll look at upgrading and more comfort. I guess my concern is more maybe a little ramp and stablilizer bar to enter/exit the kayak. I live on the river and it's shallow where I am approx 1 mile to get to deeper water. Your videos sure do help educate me on what to look for. :)

I have to walk 9 miles just to get to the lake because my car is messed up, but my trolly thing I ordered will be here tomorrow, 4 days early. So I am really excited and looking forward to a good weekend. Been one hell of a last 3 years with long covid from hell, but I am really praying that kayaking can help me build my strength back. Covid took damn near every ounce of energy and strength my body had. I really hope for finally a good summer. Subscribed enjoyed your video.

@sendit9129
Started watching this thinking "My God, I got ripped off.. how did I miss these deals?".. Then I realized this was posted 3 years ago and I purchased my Kayak mid-late 2022.

That all being said, I have a Pelican Sit-in "Angler" kayak (Which really in this case, as far and I can tell, means it has rod holders). Online pricing for it is around $400-450 now.

I paid $200 second hand, and it came with a paddle. It had been used once, and by looking at it, it hadn't look like it has been used at all. Seller said he took it on trade for some car parts, and the guy tried it once and decided kayaking wasn't for him.

My personal suggestion if you're looking to get into fishing/kayaking, give your used options a look. Make sure the bottom isn't beat out of it, and none of the hardware is damaged/ripped out and you're typically good-to-go.. and for bonus points, the used ones normally come with goodies that'd you have to purchase if you bought new.

I remember watching this video before buying my first kayak. I ended up with an angler version of the Pelican Mustang. It got me on the water and introduced me to kayaking. Now a few years later instead of shopping at Academy Sports, I went to a local independent paddling shop. The owner helped me pick out a kayak to fit me and my paddling style and came home with a Crescent Lite Tackle. In a month or so I have already spent more hours in the LT than I did in the Pelican in 3 or so years. Budget kayaks definitely have their place, and just like you said, independent shops shouldn’t bash on them. You helped me pick my first kayak, and now my second kayak. Both were great recommendations. Loving my Lite Tackle! Keep up the good work, and thank you!
